Why not make this Valentines more than just a Movie or Dinner date!!! Sometimes expressing your love with flowers, cakes and balloons may not seem imperative in a comfortable & long living relationship but trust me, it can surely make your loved one ecstatic, and if you’re one of those people who have a hard time expressing love, here is your chance! I dated my Husband for a decade before we tied the knot and had spent numerous Valentines together, but I still decided to make the first one after wedding a memorable one for him (and me!). It doesn’t have to be an extravagant affaire, but its your effort that counts which will give you memories to cherish forever!
Setup the table for a perfect mood! You’ll find Valentines themed table decor mostly anywhere you go during this love season but my one stop shop was Michaels! They have pretty much everything you need to setup the dinner table. You can also invest in things that can be used later at parties such as my centerpiece, candy jar & cupcake tray. Depending on your schedule and time, you can always cook his/her favorite dishes or simply order in.
Utilize the space available to display simple things like Wine and treats. I added a romantic touch with floating candles in a plastic Trifle Bowl (available at Michaels, Party city or similar stores) along with rose petals. I did make a trip to Party city to find some cutesy stuff like the lil heart next to my Wine glasses. You can also make use of pictures by attaching them to the helium balloons (mine are attached to the weights) to create a beautiful romantic display!
Strawberries are popularly known as edible valentine & were considered a symbol of Venus in Ancient Rome, and when covered in chocolate, they become an inevitable part of any romantic celebration to set the mood right 😉
Displaying favorite pictures of you two adds to the atmosphere when you revive the priceless moments spent together. I displayed our wedding pictures in elegant Kate Spade photo frames and they looked stunning. Party city has sets of helium balloons ready to go during Valentines season, thereby saving you the confusion to decide on the combinations.
I got into a DIY mode for creating a Photo Booth using the Valentines themed plastic table cover from Party city (Cheesy but fun!). I used foam heart cut outs from Michaels for the plain white section to give it a consistent look (Perfectionist much?! 😛). You can also use heart door strings and other decor to create your personal photo booth to give your celebrations a nice touch!
As they say, Joy comes in sips & not gulps, these little things can truly make a big difference in your relationship and strengthen your bond. Hope you all have a lovely Valentine’s Day ♥
