Beach & Pool essentials for kids 2023

Summer is the perfect time for kids to get out and enjoy the sunshine! Whether it’s a day at the beach or a weekend spent by the pool, having the right beach and pool essentials can make all the difference in making sure your kids have a safe and fun time. Here are some Beach & Pool essentials for kids that will help make your beach or pool adventure stress-free and enjoyable (I have also linked them at the end of this list)-

Swim Pants/Diapers – Reusable or Disposables
Comfortable Swim Suit/s
Sun Hats, Swim Caps & Sunglasses
Water Shoes (Preferably closed toe)
SunScreen & Applicator- Needless to say, this is one of the most important things. I use a makeup sponge to apply sunscreen for Aaira but you also get applicators online.
Sunscreen detection stickers- These are optional but they help you to know when its time to reapply the sunscreen. This is especially helpful when you’re planning to spend the whole day at the beach.
Floats/Tubes/Life Vests- This is essential for both – water fun & safety!
Snacks, Snacks & Snacks – We carried lots of easy snacks like Applesauce pouches, crackers, fruit bars etc. and also ended up ordering some fresh food to our hotel lobby that we ate at the beach.
Water, Juices, Smoothies- Hydration is very important when the kids are constantly under the sun & running around. Make sure you have enough liquids to keep your LO well hydrated.
Lots of Beach/Pool Toys, Books etc. – They love being messy & beach is litelly a pass for them to be officially messy! It also helps them to get creative & be engaged while the adults enjoy some beach views.
Mesh bag for beach toys- This will help to get the sand off easily from the toys.
Talc-free Baby Powder to get the stubborn sand off their body
Towels -If you’re staying at a hotel with pool & beach access, they will provide the towels
Towel Robe- This helps to cover them up when they step inside in an AC room while still wet
Wet Wipes & Tissues
If you are planning to change in the changing rooms by the pool or the beach, carry the following-
- Extra pair of clothes & shoes
- Soap & Body Lotion
- Bags to keep wet clothes
- Hair comb (Most changing rooms have Hair dryers already now)
- Hair Ties/bands
Our Hotel provided the beach towels, chairs, umbrellas & cabanas (at extra charge) but if you are going for a local beach day, you can carry the following-
- Beach Towels
- Folding Chairs
- Folding Beach Umbrellas or Tents
If you have an infant, I have seen that parents carry a small baby inflatable swimming pool to the beach where the infant can have some water fun as well depending on the age.
