Amazon has not announced 2026 dates as of late August, and has historically confirmed them in mid-September. Buy toys, Halloween supplies and Amazon devices in October. The naming confuses everyone, including us. Amazon now runs two Prime member sales a year with almost identical branding, and they are not interchangeable.
Here is what separates them, what genuinely drops in October, and what is worth waiting six weeks for.
What is the difference between Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days?
Prime Day is the big one. It runs in summer, lasts longer, and carries the deepest discounts of the year outside Black Friday.
Prime Big Deal Days is the fall event. It is shorter, smaller, and positioned as the start of holiday shopping. Both require a Prime membership.

When is Prime Big Deal Days 2026?
Amazon has not published the 2026 fall dates. As of 24 August 2026 the only Prime event Amazon has confirmed this year is the June one.
What we can say from the record: the event has landed in the first two weeks of October every year it has run, and Amazon has typically issued the announcement in mid-September, about three weeks ahead.

What actually drops in price in October?
The fall event is strongest where Amazon is clearing seasonal stock or seeding holiday demand.
- Amazon’s own devices. Echo, Fire tablets, Kindle, Ring and eero hit prices close to their Black Friday lows. This is the most reliable category in the sale.
- Toys. October is genuinely the better month. Selection is full and pricing is aggressive because Amazon wants the early holiday cart.
- Halloween and fall decor. Bought before the holiday, not after, since stock disappears in the last week.
- Kids’ clothing and outerwear. Coats, boots and snow gear before the first cold week sells them out.
- Home and storage. The pre-holiday organizing push. Bins, shelving, entryway storage.
- Kitchen equipment. Cookware, bakeware and small appliances ahead of hosting season.
- Vacuums. Mid-range brands like Shark reach prices near their annual floor.
What is cheaper if you wait for Black Friday?
Black Friday follows about six or seven weeks later. For several categories, waiting is the correct call.
- Televisions. Especially premium panels. November is not close.
- Laptops and desktops. Deeper cuts and wider selection, though the best ones sell out quickly.
- Large appliances. Washers, dryers, refrigerators. Black Friday and the holiday weekends around it.
- Gaming consoles and bundles. The bundles that include games appear in November.
- Furniture and mattresses. Holiday weekend sales beat both Prime events.
- Winter apparel for adults. Deepest in late December and January clearance.
The tiebreaker we use: if the item is expensive and you can live without it until December, wait. If it is under $100 and you want it now, buy it in October.
What should you buy for Halloween 2026?
Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, 31 October, which is the version people plan hardest for. A Saturday means more parties, more costume changes, and stock running out earlier than usual.
Costumes. Order by mid-October at the latest. Kids’ sizes in popular characters go first, and returns get slow as the date approaches. Buy the size up if you are between, because most costumes go over regular clothes.
Decor. Reusable pieces are worth paying for once. Good porch lighting, a solid wreath, weather-resistant yard pieces. Skip anything inflatable unless you have somewhere dry to store it.
The look, not the costume. A K-pop-inspired outfit, a group theme, or a coordinated family set usually comes together from ordinary clothing plus two or three accessories. That approach costs less and the pieces stay in the closet afterward.
Fall decor generally. Buy in early October for the season, or wait until 1 November for genuine clearance if you are stocking up for next year.
What else is worth shopping in the fall event?
Luxury and designer bags. Treat with care. Buy only from Amazon itself or the brand’s own storefront, never a third-party seller with no history. Check the seller name under the buy button before anything else.
Office essentials. October is a quiet, genuinely good month for desks, chairs, monitors and cable management, because the back-to-school push has ended and the holiday one has not started.
Home essentials. Bedding, towels, storage and cleaning supplies. Unexciting, and the category where a sale price actually saves a household real money over a year.
