I did a lil Mommy & Me day out with Aaira today & my Instagram DMs were full of questions on how I manage a one year old alone outside & what did I carry to make it easier. Please note that this post covers what to carry for a Toddler on a day out (locally) which is different from traveling. Firstly, no matter what you carry, it’s definitely going to be exhausting but also LOTS OF FUN! <3 We were out for about 4 hours in the morning & ended right in time for her afternoon nap, so that she can sleep in the car on our way back. Here are the things I carried & linking them on my Shop LTK Profile. It was pretty cold & windy outside, so my list is more for the winters but including summer options below as well. A Car seat mirror to ensure you can watch the kid while driving alone.

Diaper Bag – I do have a Blog Post on what to carry in a Diaper Bag which I did when Aaira was an infant. The list has obviously changed a bit now that she is a toddler but definitely still helpful. See the post Here.

Some of the additions to the diaper bag compared to the post above are below:

Antibacterial Hand wipes & Baby Hand Sanitizer now that he is walking around & touching surfaces.

Toy & Highchair wipes

A book – because this girl loves books anywhere & everywhere – I will be sharing her latest collection soon.

Favorite Toys that keep your kid busy

Extra Hair accessories as she has a lot more hair now

Treats/Favorite snack & Snack Holder- Definitely a Must. We do want Aaira to eat the meal out when we eat out but having snacks & treats at hand is always helpful.

Ready to use formula & Nipples/ Or Powdered formula with water (separately)

Sippy cups for water

Wearable bibs/Bibs with pockets to catch Food

Silicone Mat for food

Some of the deletions from the diaper bag compared to the post above are below::

No Mittens & Swaddle

No Baby Shusher. White noise machine might still come handy for some kids.

No Pacifier & Pacifier sterilizer. Do carry this if your baby still uses a pacifier.

No Nursing cover as she is weaned off

Additional accessories –

Stroller Hooks to hold Shopping Bags

Stroller Organizer

Snack tray for stroller ( Ours is Uppababy)

A phone holder for stroller – Trust me, sometimes you gotta take the support of screen time when out alone with the kid. I didn’t use it much today as we were constantly doing an activity but definitely kept it handy.

For the weather –

Cold days-

Jacket with a hoodie

Cap & Gloves

Blanket

Car Seat winter cover

Warm Days-

Stroller fan

Insect/Bug repellent spray

Rain/Wind Cover for Car Seat

Car seat cooling pad

For yourself-

It’s important that as a parent, you are well fed & hydrated to take care of your child. Make sure you dress for the weather, wear comfortable shoes & have a protein bar or a snack at hand for yourself. Don’t forget to keep your phone charged and use the remote start option (if available) for your car, especially in winters. Also, look for Family parkings as those are available in a lot of malls these days that let you park closer to the entrance. We also carried a Tripod to record our fun but that definitely might be a stretch for some. Last but not the least, don’t forget to have fun <3
