Prime Day 2026

Prime Day 2026 ran June 23 to 26, four days for Prime members. Amazon’s fall event, Prime Big Deal Days, has run in early October every year since 2022 but has no confirmed 2026 date yet. The best preparation is a written list plus price alerts, checked against each item’s 90-day low rather than the struck-through list price.

Most Prime Day coverage is a wall of links written the morning the sale opens. This is the other thing: how to judge whether a price is actually good, which works in any month.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2026?

Amazon runs two Prime member sales a year, and they have similar enough names to confuse anyone.

Event 2026 dates Status
Prime Day June 23 to June 26, four days Confirmed by Amazon. Already finished
Prime Big Deal Days Expected early October Not announced as of 24 August 2026

Prime Day 2026 opened at 12:01 a.m. Pacific on 23 June and closed at 11:59 p.m. Pacific on 26 June. It was the second year Amazon ran the summer event across four days rather than two.

The fall event has landed in the first two weeks of October in each of the four years it has run, and Amazon has typically confirmed the dates in mid-September. We will update this page when they publish.

How do you tell a real Prime Day price from a marked-up one?

This is the part worth learning once, because it applies to every sale on every site.

Ignore the struck-through number. A “list price” is a manufacturer’s suggested price, not what the item has been selling for. On products that have never sold at list, the percentage next to it is meaningless.

Check the 90-day low instead. Free browser tools and price-history sites chart what an item has actually sold for. Ask one question: is today’s price at or below where it sat over the last three months?

Watch for the pre-sale climb. The pattern to know is a price that drifts upward in the two or three weeks before a sale event, then drops on day one to roughly where it was in May. The chart shows this immediately, and nothing else will.

Look at the seller, not just the price. Under the buy button it says who ships and who sells. A steep discount from a seller with no history is the most common way people get burned on higher-value items.

Compare across at least one other retailer. Big-box stores run competing sales the same week. On appliances, televisions and toys they frequently match or beat Amazon.

  • Green flag: current price at or under the 90-day low, sold and shipped by Amazon or the brand.
  • Yellow flag: matches a price it has hit several times this year. Fine, but not urgent.
  • Red flag: list price rose recently, or the discount comes from an unfamiliar third-party seller.

Which categories reliably discount on Prime Day?

Amazon discounts hardest where it owns the product or is clearing an outgoing model.

Category How reliable Note
Amazon devices Very Echo, Fire, Kindle, Ring, eero. The most dependable discount on the site
Last year’s tech Very The outgoing model of a headphone, tablet or vacuum, not the new one
Mid-range vacuums and floor care Strong Often the annual floor outside Black Friday
Kitchen and cookware Strong Sets discount harder than single pieces
Home storage and organization Strong Sells out faster than it discounts further
Fitness and health hardware Moderate Check whether a subscription is required before comparing prices
Premium televisions and laptops Weak Meaningfully cheaper in late November
Groceries and pantry Weak Subscribe and Save matches most of it year round
Apparel and shoes Weak End-of-season clearance in August and January beats it

What should you skip on Prime Day?

Saying this plainly is more useful than another list of links.

  • Anything you had not considered before the sale opened. The event exists to create the want, and a 40 percent discount on something unneeded is still money spent.
  • Large appliances. Holiday weekends and Black Friday are better, and delivery, installation and haul-away matter more than the sticker.
  • Furniture from sellers you do not recognize. Return shipping erases the saving.
  • Gift cards and subscriptions unless the discount is on the card’s face value, which is rare.
  • Toys in June. October and November are genuinely cheaper and better stocked.
  • The just-released version of anything. New models almost never discount. The one it replaced does.

How do you prepare a Prime Day list in advance?

This takes about twenty minutes and does more than any amount of refreshing on the day.

  • Write the list first. Two columns: things that are broken or running out, and things you have wanted for more than three months. If it is not on the list, it is not a deal.
  • Pick a specific model for each line. “A vacuum” turns into whatever is loudest on the deals page. A model number does not.
  • Note today’s price next to each item. Do this weeks ahead. It is the only defense against a marked-up list price.
  • Set price alerts. A tracking tool will email you when an item hits your number, which means you do not have to watch the sale at all.
  • Set a total budget, not a per-item one. Per-item budgets always get met. A total does not move.
  • Request invite-only deals for items already on your list, since it costs nothing and takes a moment.

Then do the hardest part, which is not opening the deals page. It is sorted by what the retailer wants to move.

Do you need a Prime membership?

Yes. Both events are limited to Prime members, though a 30-day free trial is available and works for a single sale.

Amazon also offers reduced-price tiers for young adults and for people receiving qualifying government assistance, which are worth checking before paying the standard annual rate.

If you join only for the sale, put a calendar reminder a few days before the trial converts. That reminder is the difference between a free trial and an annual charge.

Frequently asked questions

Was Prime Day 2026 in June or July?

June. Amazon moved the summer event earlier, and Prime Day 2026 ran from 23 to 26 June, opening at 12:01 a.m. Pacific and closing at 11:59 p.m. Pacific on the final day. Earlier years were held in July, which is why the date is easy to get wrong.

Will there be another Prime sale in 2026?

Almost certainly. Amazon has held a second Prime event in early October every year since 2022, currently called Prime Big Deal Days. As of late August 2026 the dates have not been announced, and Amazon has typically confirmed them around mid-September.

What is the 90-day low and why does it matter?

It is the lowest price an item has actually sold for over the past three months, visible through free price-tracking tools. It matters because the struck-through list price on a product page is a suggested price rather than a real one, so the only honest comparison is against what the item has genuinely been selling for.

Do prices really go up before Prime Day?

It happens often enough to plan around, particularly on smaller items from third-party sellers. A price that climbs in the weeks before a sale and drops on day one has not really been discounted. Noting the price a few weeks ahead, or checking a price history chart, catches it in seconds.

Are invite-only deals worth requesting?

They can be, and requesting costs nothing. Amazon uses them on high-demand items so they do not sell out instantly. Request the ones already on your list. An invitation is not a reason to want something you had not planned to buy.

Is Prime Day better than Black Friday?

For Amazon devices, last year’s tech, kitchen goods and mid-range vacuums, Prime Day usually matches or beats it. For premium televisions, laptops, large appliances, gaming bundles and toys, Black Friday is clearly better. Splitting purchases across both events is the practical answer.
