How do you read a Wayfair discount honestly?
The badge percentage is calculated against a list price many items never sold at. That is standard across furniture retail, not unique to Wayfair, but it makes the badge close to meaningless alone. Judge the dollar figure instead.
- Save the item to a list weeks early. Wayfair flags when a saved item’s price changes, turning guesswork into a number
- Search the exact model name off-site. Much of the catalog is dropshipped and sold elsewhere under another brand at another price
- Ignore “was” prices. Compare today’s price to the same item’s price last month, the only comparison that means anything

- Measure your path, not just your room. Doorway width, hallway turns, stair landings, the diagonal of the entry door. The most common reason a piece goes back
- Look at shipping weight. A 40-pound “solid wood” dresser is not solid wood. Weight is the honest signal a materials line can obscure
- Read assembled dimensions, not box dimensions. Both are listed, and they are easy to confuse

What are the delivery and assembly realities?
Small items ship by parcel carrier. Large furniture moves by freight: a scheduling call, a delivery window rather than a time, and on the basic tier a drop at your door or curb rather than inside. Room-of-choice and assembly are paid upgrades at checkout.
Most Wayfair furniture arrives flat-packed. Budget real time for a bed frame or wardrobe, and check whether hardware ships in the box or separately.
Inspect boxes before the driver leaves. Freight damage is common, and photographing it at delivery turns the claim into paperwork rather than a negotiation.
